We are all studying English at Tokoha University in Shizuoka City.
Our role is to introduce Shizuoka in English by writing blog posts.

We would like to introduce 5 spots where you can enjoy green tea.

1. Momijiyama Garden in Sumpu Castle Park
2. Nihondaira Yume Terrace
3. Maruzen Tea Roastery
4. Leaf Paradise
5. Chagama

In this blog post, we will introduce 1 and 2.
3-5 will appear in our next blog post.

1. Momijiyama Garden in Sumpu Castle Park

This garden is in Sumpu Castle Park, one of the popular sightseeing spots in Shizuoka City.
If you have a chance to visit this park, we recommend you to visit this garden, too.

First, let us introduce the garden.
You can enjoy beautiful flowers in every season.
In spring, cherry blossoms
In June, hydrangeas
In autumn, autumn leaves
In winter, camellias

You might notice something like a mountain on the center of the photo.
This mountain symbolizes Mt. Fuji.

When you listen, you can hear voice of birds.
Looking at the scenery while listening to that voice made us feel like we had slipped back in time.
If you go a little further, there is a waterfall.
The sound and atmosphere of the waterfall will calm you.

There is a tea shop (with tables & chairs) called “Ryurei-seki” (立札席)and traditional tea rooms (Japanese style tatami rooms) called ”Unkai”(雲海) and Seigetsu-An (静月庵).
Ryurei-seki (立札席), you can enter without reservation.
Unkai” (雲海) and Seigetsu-An (静月庵), If there are no reserved guests, you can enter inside.
Please ask to the staff of the tea shop.

menu:
Left, Matcha + sweets
Right, Green tea + sweets

Sweets are sweet and tea is bitter, so they marry well inside your mouth.
After you finish eating, you can get hojicha (roasted tea).
The astringency of the tea was working.

We think you can imagine ancient life in Japan inside.
When you enter the tea room, there is a large tatami room. (above photo)

The outside view is beautiful!

There is another small tea room for a small group in the back.

It is a luxury to be able to drink tea while looking at Mt.Fuji, isn’t it?
There are other unique sweets such as matcha tiramisu.
It was sweet and delicious!

menu
・Matcha tiramisu
・Orange Cider

The orange cider contains lemon.
It was sweet, sour and delicious.

Oranges are special products of Shizuoka as same as green tea.

Access: It takes 30 minutes by car from JR Shizuoka Station.

There is another blog post about Nihondaira Yume Terrace.
