Summit access for the public will remain closed during the 2020 summer season.
In response to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, no mountain huts will be in service, in order to avoid spreading the infection. All major routes to the summit and other trails as well as public facilities including first-aid centers and bio-toilets will be closed during 2020 as it would be difficult to maintain an adequate level of security under such conditions.
Closed sections include:
Yoshida Trail above the 5th Station
Subashiri Trail above the 5th Station
Gotemba Trail above the New 5th Station
Fujinomiya Trail above the 5th Station
Ohachi-meguri (summit crater loop) Trail
Roads to 5th stations
Fujinomiya trail / closed during the climbing season.
Gotemba trail / closed during the climbing season.
Subashiri trail / closed during the climbing season.
Yoshida trail / have not decided yet.
